Welcome!
Thanks for stopping by. We are glad you did.
Who We Are:
We are a fellowship of
believers located in the hills of
southern Pennsylvania. Our church exists for the purpose of
presenting Jesus to a world in need of change, and to provide a
place for believers to fellowship and worship almighty God through
the teaching and preaching of God's Word.
Our Vision:
Valley View Evangelical Church shall be a
cooperative body of believers united in their passion for Christ and
focused on the harvest.
Religious Affiliation:
We are a member church of
The Evangelical Church,
which is regionally divided into conferences. We are located in the
Eastern Conference.
Our History:
Valley View Church had its early beginnings in
March 1985. The first service was a planned sunrise event held on
the hillside lawn near the parsonage April 7, 1985. Later that same
day, the group congregated in Anderson's Restaurant in Knightsville,
PA for a worship service. The restaurant served as a regular meeting
place until the congregation could build their own structure. Two
weeks later, the women of the church eagerly organized a Mission
Society dedicated to supporting individual missionaries and mission
sending agencies with prayer and financial support. There was also a
strong emphasis on local missions by providing devotional materials
and exercising compassionate outreach through food and helping
ministries.
Our Church Today:
Members of the congregation are servants of the
living God and their fellow man. They believe the message of
holiness of heart is relevant and essential for today's world. They
are called and inspired by the great commission in Matthew 28:18-20,
therefore their emphasis on missions remains strong. Church
activities include participation in the Southern Huntingdon chapter
of Men With Vision, Pennsylvania District Ten Sunday School
Association, H.I.S. Care Ministry, as well as participating in hymn
sings and prayer circles with other local churches. Annual events
include: Lady's Retreat, Men's Retreat, Winter Youth Retreat
(Snoasis), Family Bible Camp, Vacation Bible School, Christmas Shoe
box Collection, Fall Festival, and an annual Ice Cream Festival with
free homemade ice cream.
